At the age of 11 years old, Rick Skalak completed his first commissioned art piece. With over 50 years of experience completing commissioned art, Rick Skalak has easily defined his role as the Principal Designer at Vita Nova Mosaic. He has proven to be an essential and pivotal role in the creation of mosaics with impeccable quality and remarkable aesthetic value.
Eye for detail, color, and translation of art between mediums was influenced by his educational background. Receiving architectural training at University of Southern California, a B.F.A. from CCAC in fine arts and an M.F.A from California State University, Long Beach, California, A.A. in Interior Design FIDM and has made the ability to see a painting or specific artistic style and translate it into mosaic pieces in glass, natural stone, or ceramic to be tailored to best express the design intent. Teaching his team of artisans led by production manager, Armida Perez and Design Associate, Yolanda Glass to do the same with every custom hand crafted masterpiece.
